We recruit short term volunteers and financial partners in North America to assist missionaries and national pastors with projects that will accelerate the gospel going to people who have no churches or Christian workers among them.

Our ministry with FRIENDS in Action involves researching needy projects presented to us in the remote regions of the world and then presenting these projects to FRIENDS in Action Board. The board of directors chooses the projects which it deems most strategic to the goals and objectives of FIA. They then assign Tim the leadership responsibility to oversee the project and work teams necessary to see the project completed through the FIA personnel and volunteers.

Tim has functioned as the Executive director of FRIENDS in Action (FIA) for several years. He does a considerable amount of vision casting with the team and does field trips to research the needs and to guide the foreign field projects FIA is assisting. As opportunities arise, Tim does recruiting and representation in the USA and at other events also.

Since 2004 the Johnstons’, along with the role of FIA leadership have enjoyed opening a new work in the jungles of Nicaragua. They have been helping by assisting Spanish pastors and missionaries with setting up the infrastructure necessary to taking the gospel to the indigenous Rama people living on the eastern coast of Nicaragua.

Jan is responsible for our prayer net work established by FRIENDS many years ago. Through e-mail she keeps our prayer partners updated with prayer requests on how to pray and what is the result of their prayers. Jan also serves in the finance department helping with donor receipting.
