Serve. Learn. Grow.
Spend a season with Friends In Action and put your faith to work. Whether you serve at our headquarters or on the field in West Africa, you'll help speed the Gospel to those who have never heard.
Come with your talent. Leave with a purpose.
God equips each of us with skills. An FIA internship is a chance to find out how yours can serve Him. You'll work alongside our team, learn from people who have spent years in missions, and see firsthand how practical service opens doors for the Gospel.
If you have a heart to serve, we can find a job for you.
General Internship
See what it takes to keep missions moving. Over ten weeks at our headquarters, you'll work across the departments that send teams, ship supplies, and share the story.
This volunteer internship is built for college-age students with a passion for global missions. You don't need a certain major. You need a heart to serve.
Where you'll serve
What you'll gain
- A mentor to guide and support you
- Workshops and training in global missions
- Connections with people serving across the missions world
- Devotions and time set aside for spiritual growth
- Experience raising financial and prayer support
- The possibility of joining an international work team (restrictions may apply)
Communications Internship
Have a passion for Jesus and for storytelling? Learn to tell the stories that matter, at our headquarters and out on the field.
You'll work in person with our Communications team, building real skills while helping more people see what God is doing among the unreached.
What you'll do
Take your camera to the field
During the internship, you'll have the chance to join two short-term trips and serve through journalism, photography, and video.
What you'll gain
- Training in communications for missions
- A mentor to guide and support you
- Professional development and new connections
- Time set aside for spiritual growth
- Experience raising financial and prayer support
International Internship
This is not a vacation. It's not an office internship. And you won't just watch missionaries do their work. You'll be part of the work.
Serve alongside our West Africa team and local believers, where clean water and practical help open doors for the Gospel. No two days look the same. You might spend the morning on a drill site and the afternoon hauling materials. That flexibility is part of the experience.
Skills you can take home
You don't have to arrive knowing how to weld, drill a well, or lay block. You simply need to be willing to learn and willing to serve.
Know what you're saying yes to
- It's hard work. Expect heat, dust, long days, and changing plans. You will be tired. You will get dirty. That is part of missions.
- Housing is provided, and it's simple. This is mission housing, not a hotel. You'll cook your own meals, wash your own clothes, and help keep shared spaces clean.
- You cover your travel and personal costs. That includes airfare, passport and visa, vaccinations, and insurance. We'll share the details once you're accepted.
- The work is physical and mostly outdoors. You don't need to be an athlete, but you do need to be able to take part safely.
- This is a Christian mission program. You don't need to have everything figured out. You do need a teachable heart.
Your internship could become more than an experience. It could become part of your calling.
"One of the things mentioned at FIA Orientation has stuck with me: the Lord doesn't call the equipped, He equips the called. I got to experience that personally. I didn't know how the Lord was going to use me in Uganda, and I never expected I'd be painting… I would recommend [the internship] for interior design, communications, anywhere in the trades. There are so many opportunities with FIA."
