Mike and Ruth repair and maintain equipment at FIA’s Papua New Guinea base, as well as make service calls into remote bush locations to assist other missionaries with mechanical needs. The Butlers send and receive containers to and from the field with missionaries’ supplies and belongings as well as equipment for construction projects and other mission stations along the Sepik River. They have developed a national training center to teach welding, woodworking, and life-skills to the Wewak people. The Butlers have led volunteer teams into several tribal areas, building airstrips in these remote locations which were previously only accessible by hiking or helicopter.
