9 Villages Awaiting the Gospel: FIA Nicaragua

Feb 2, 2023

“So today I am going down to the water (baptism). I am thinking about all that Jesus did for me and how He was put up on that cross where His blood drained out for my forgiveness. I am going to the water to identify myself in Jesus and in the salvation He gave me. Yes, in front of all of you I am giving this testimony that my life is now in Jesus….” ~ A new Rama believer sharing his baptism testimony with his fellow villagers”

God At Work Through Your Prayers And Giving!

Eight years ago, a handful of Rama tribal men requested FIA’s help to organize a time of clear teaching of the Bible story. A small group desired to hear and understand the meaning of the message. Days before the teaching began, the news of what was going to happen spread, and the small handful of interested individuals quickly grew to more than forty. For more than two weeks, the villagers paused their hunting and gathering activities to give themselves fully to hear God’s Story developed from the beginning. Early in the morning, every day, the canoes converged on the bank of the jungle clearing where the daily teaching began shortly after sunrise and lasted until sunset.

The response to those initial intense weeks of teaching could never have been anticipated, and what resulted was a systematic, ongoing, focused, and intentional discipleship movement among the people! Recently, 12 more villagers chose to be baptized!

Practical Demonstration Of God’s Love

The Holy Spirit is producing fruit in many lives as FIA helps meet the practical needs of the people. Ongoing construction projects support missionaries’ efforts among the Rama while helping to remediate overcrowding and sanitation issues for close to 1,400 villagers. FIA’s volunteer work teams are nearing the completion of a Laundry/ Shower House and continue to build hurricane-resistant homes (4 were completed last year with plans for 4 more, as funds become available this year).

Please Pray With Us

Plans to build a Kitchen/Dining Facility and provide a clean water filtration system are also at the top of missionaries’ and field leaders’ prayer lists.

There are no current accomodations to feed work teams, Rama children during FIA-hosted Vacation Bible School sessions, or the large groups of villagers who come for teaching. Nicaragua is one of the poorest nations in the Western Hemisphere and malnutrition is on the rise. The villagers have only subsistence gardens cultivated in impoverished, overused soil, plus whatever they gather from hunting and fishing attempts on the tiny island. Sometimes an entire family will survive on one breadfruit or cluster of bananas per day. The Kitchen /Dining Facility and water system are sure to advance the Gospel work of our partner missionaries, as both bellies and hearts will be filled through these highly anticipated projects.

Your Prayers And Giving Make A Difference

Please be assured that your investment in the Rama Cay people of Nicaragua will be used to change lives now and for all eternity! As a growing group of young believers continues to mature, we have facilitated further training and are working toward seeing a functioning biblical assembly take shape among the newborn fellowship. Each week more than a dozen Rama believers gather at 4:00 AM for prayers and serve on teaching, evangelism, and administration teams.

Please pray with us

What an exciting time to partner with the Rama believers to bring the Good News in their own heart language through culturally-meaningful and solidly biblical-based outreaches!

Rama believers are preparing to reach out to 9 neighboring villages who have yet to hear the Gospel!

Even A Small Amount Empowers Great Impact

During this season when we celebrate love for each other, please consider giving to make God’s Great Love in Jesus known through your support of FIA’s projects and training opportunities to benefit the Rama and their 9 neighboring villages!
