Building An Eternal Impact

FIA February 2025 Appeal: Moving To Share Banner

“Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour” (Ecclesiastes 4:9, KJV).

Building An Eternal Impact

When James and Morgan Tumwesiigye moved to rural Uganda in 2021, they knew their mission would require more than medical care and Gospel proclamation. They needed infrastructure to support traveling nurses, visiting teams, and the growing ministry of Milandila Community Missions. However, finding skilled labor in their village of Lusanja proved challenging, and contracting work would drain resources meant for the ministry.

THAT’S WHERE FRIENDS IN ACTION STEPPED IN!

A Partnership Rooted In Relationship

Following the successful construction of James and Morgan’s mission home, FIA returned to Uganda to tackle the next critical need: a guest house. This facility would enable medical teams to stay on-site, expanding the reach of care at Milandila’s Family Center. Here, Morgan and her staff walk alongside expectant mothers, offering both medical support and the hope of Jesus through counseling and Bible teaching. The guest house makes this possible by providing much-needed accommodation for volunteers.

Working on the guest house project accomplished far more than creating sleeping quarters.

The same young men from the village who learned carpentry and tile work during the mission home construction now returned with newfound skills and something more.

Men like Medi, Baker, and Joseph weren’t just learning trades; they were experiencing Christ’s love demonstrated through the hands and feet of FIA volunteers who sacrificed time and resources to serve alongside them.

“It’s such a blessing to partner with FIA,” James shared. “With the practical help from FIA with construction projects, Milandila can advance its outreach while being able to focus on its ministry.”

– Milandila Exec. Director James Tumwesiigye

The guest house now stands complete, hosting teams of nurses and volunteers who serve at what has become the first approved women and babies’ hospital in the entire Luwero District, a remarkable growth from the cramped two rooms where Milandila’s medical ministry began.

The Next Chapter: A Coffee Shop With A Purpose

A NEW IDEA TO EXPAND MILANDILA!

This May, FIA is returning to Uganda with a new project: renovating the last portion of the family center infrastructure. With these renovations, the ministry envisions a coffee shop on the Milandila property.

While this may seem like a simple commercial venture, it represents something deeper, a sustainable income source for the ministry and another opportunity to train local men in construction skills while building relationships that open hearts to the Gospel. The trifecta will feature a coffee shop where ladies who have completed the pregnancy program can explore venture possibilities for financial sustainability, while the ministry identifies further discipleship development opportunities.
