FIA February 2025 Appeal: Moving To Share Banner

“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.” (1 Corinthians 15:58, KJV)

Three years ago, Medi could not hang a door. This spring, he led the work team at Milandila like a man who owns his craft, having already built his own home, a house for a young pregnant mother, and the two-story nurses’ house beside the Milandila clinic. He is James Tumwesiigye’s right hand on the job site now, training the young men behind him. None of this happened by accident. It happened because someone showed up to serve, again and again.

That trend traces back to a woman named Amanda Brandt. Amanda served on an FIA short-term team in Nicaragua, pouring her love int the Rama people before suddenly with FIA in Nicaragua, pouring her love into the Rama Cay people before going home to be with the Lord in 2018. Seven years later, her daughter Reagan found herself loving the children of Uganda the same way her mother had loved the children of Nicaragua, the same servant’s heart, planted in a new generation. Reagan joined the FIA team at Milandila, laying brick, running electrical, and painting walls, helping build the very center that would soon become something none of them could have planned.

God Provides

In April, the Milandila Women and Babies Hospital officially opened in Luweero. For years, mothers there had access to antenatal care only, praying for the day they could deliver in their own community instead of being turned away from hospitals that required supplies they couldn’t afford. In its first month alone, the hospital saw 12 successful deliveries. By May, staff had cared for 106 mothers and babies total.

One of the first mothers through the doors was Jessica, laboring at just 34 weeks. Her baby was born alive, tiny, just 1.8 kilograms, and spent two weeks in an incubator before going home. A week later, Jessica returned for a checkup. Her baby had grown to 2.5 kilograms.

This is what Amanda’s labor looks like now, brick by brick, wire by wire, mother by mother. Medi hangs doors that open onto a hallway where women once had nowhere to go. Reagan’s hands helped raise the walls where Jessica’s baby now breathes easier. None of it was in vain.

This month, the Amanda Brandt Foundation is directing its support toward the ongoing needs at Milandila, carrying Amanda’s legacy of love for women, babies, and families straight into the place her own daughter helped build. Would you consider joining us?

Pray With Us

Praise God for a legacy passed on from mother to daughter! Praise God for Medi, James, and the men of Lusanja still training the next generation. Praise God for every mother and baby who walked out of Milandila Hospital healthy this spring. Join us in praying for the Family Center’s continued growth, especially for the teenage mothers finding both medical care and the love of Christ there for the first time.
