Small Beginnings
“For who has despised the day of small things?” Zechariah 4:10.
Franckie, a 20-something NiVan villager, heard Americans had arrived near his village in Vanuatu with big equipment, offering to teach construction skills to willing villagers, as they constructed a road.
“I had nothing better to do. It was a small thing that I intended to see what was going on, to watch the work of the road being built that would connect villages to a clinic and a school. So I went to see.”
While dozens of villagers watched or participated in the construction, FIA partner Gaby, a NiVan chief’s son turned pastor, proclaimed the Gospel. “There is only one road, one pathway to God, and that’s through Jesus Christ. Make level the path of your life and come to Him!”
Big Realizations
As Franckie watched and listened, he considered Pastor Gaby’s teaching. “I had never heard about grace through faith. I had never understood coming to God because of the completed work of Jesus on the cross and not by my own works. It was such a simple but profound idea to me.”
Franckie came back day after day to ask questions. “It started as such a small thing – to watch them work, but then became so life-changing to realize that getting to God wasn’t about my work!”
Eventually, Franckie committed His life to Christ and began studying the Bible and being discipled by Pastor Gaby.
“I am the fruit of the work of Friends In Action. I am speaking of their message- The Gospel of Jesus because now I am a servant of God too,” Franckie shares.
Bigger Multiplication
“If God hadn’t sent Friends in Action to Vanuatu, I wouldn’t know Christ or have a church to go to,” reflected Franckie.
Since then, Franckie has continued his studies under Pastor Gaby for approximately three years and has become that newly built church’s recently ordained lead pastor!
“I could have never imagined all that God would do from such a small thing as watching the road project. I want to say thank you to FIA. The roads you build, the churches you construct, and the houses you make possible, all help to grow God’s Kingdom. You do work to serve men in the world, but that work opens the door for God to save men’s souls – like He’s saved mine.”
FIA knows that our construction work can’t revolutionize a person’s life simply by bringing water, an airstrip, a clinic, or even a road. But we have seen some amazing transformations as God uses our days “of small things” to accomplish His big plan of salvation through Christ.
Investing “Small Things” To See Big Outcomes!
From now until November 15, Generous FIA supporters are offering to DOUBLE any gifts to FIA’s work in Vanuatu, General Fund, or Where Needed Most Funds. Let God multiply your “small things” into big blessings!
It can seem like such a “small thing” to stop and pray for God to use FIA’s Great Commission work. It can seem like more “small things” to donate the cost of a dinner out, our cable bill, or other non-essentials. Yet, in the hands of our God, He multiplies our “small things” to change lives like Franckie’s as He accomplishes His eternal purposes through us…and that’s no small thing!
